SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW (SSO) REPORT TO EPD

DATE OF SSO: 11-16-2022 Overflow was called in to the City
REPORT SUBMITTED: 11-17-2022 to GA EPD Mountain District
LOCATION OF SSO: Near 57 Mark Whitfield Street, intersection of Mark Whitfield and Stegall Drive
CAUSE OF SSO: The service cleanout was hit by another utility performing work in the same general area, which caused the service line to move out of alignment. This created a back up within the service line.
ESTIMATED VOLUME DISCHARGED: 50 gallons
RECEIVING WATERS: None
WRF NPDES PERMIT: GA0032204
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO MITIGATE OR TO REDUCE ADVERSE EFFECTS: The service line and cleanout have been repaired and the line has been jetted. The area has been remediated.
OVERFLOW STATUS: City crews have stopped the overflow and fixed the damaged cleanout and service line. Any questions may be directed to David Hall, Utility Director for the City of Jasper, 706-692-9102.
SIGNS POSTED: N/A
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT FUTURE OCCURENCES: The City’s underground line was hit during another utility’s construction work. The City of Jasper responds to 811 utility locate requests, and will continue to do so.
