LOCATION OF SSO: In the wooded limited access Right of Way of Hwy 515 S, just south of SR 53 (eastbound) near the base of a billboard.
CAUSE OF SSO: A missing ring and cover on a sanitary sewer manhole which allowed dirt, mud, and other debris to enter the collection system. This created a clog in the downstream sewer main leaving the manhole, which eventually caused the manhole to overflow.

RECEIVING WATERS: None
WRF NPDES PERMIT: GA0032204
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO MITIGATE OR TO REDUCE ADVERSE EFFECTS: The sewer main was jetted and the clog relieved. The contractor cleaned the downstream lines and installed a new ring and cover on the manhole. The area around the manhole was cleared of all overgrowth and treated with lime.
OVERFLOW STATUS: The clog was relieved before 6:00AM on 7-29-2023, which stopped the overflow. Any questions may be directed to Kim Goldener with the City of Jasper at 706-692-9100.
SIGNS POSTED: Yes
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT FUTURE OCCURENCES: This area of the collection system will be put onto a preventative maintenance schedule to ensure the surrounding area is kept cut down, and that there are no issues in the manhole.
